Ever come home from a hard day at work and complain, “My job is killing me!”? You may be closer to the truth than you think.
A British study showed that employees with very demanding jobs and little freedom to make decisions, had a twenty-three percent higher risk of having a heart attack, compared to others the same age with less stressful jobs. Older studies have showed similar results.
Everyone has tough days at work. But if your job is highly stressful much of the time, a change may be in order.
And if you can’t change your job, a recent study shows you can reduce the risk of job strain by nearly one half with a healthy lifestyle away from work.
Keep the basics of good nutrition, exercise, and sleep a priority. When it comes to your lifespan, no paycheck should lead to an early check out.
