Food Rescue’s mission is to feed people and save surplus perishable food from being needlessly wasted. Their focus is on rescuing the modest amounts of perishable food that is wasted daily in our country that by itself cannot justify the manpower and equipment/trucks normally used by large caring agencies to rescue food. Restaurants like Little Caesar’s and City BBQ store their excess food in freezers until Food Rescue volunteers are able to deliver the leftovers to those in need. Food Rescue has turned millions of dollars of rescued food into countless meals for children and families in need. The 40% of food wasted in America is a tragedy, but by educating, advocating, and volunteering, we can solve the problem. Get more information here.
