Shop Till They Drop

A shopping trip with young kids can be quite a juggling act—and as it turns out, a potentially dangerous one. There’s more than falling prices going on.

Latest findings show one child goes to the ER for a shopping cart injury every twenty-two minutes—or over 24,000 a year. That may give you sticker shock, but I hope it leads to safer shopping.

The majority of injuries came from children simply falling out of a cart—either from not being restrained or riding in the basket. But many injuries occurred from carts tipping over or collisions.

I remember plenty of times I went shopping with my children. The temptation to leave them “just for a moment” is real. And we all know a fussy baby hates to be strapped in. Unfortunately, compromising can leave you checking out of the store—and checking into the hospital.
