Soda vs. Water

A listener wrote, “It seems like I see fewer people drinking soda and more drinking water. Is this really true?”


Researchers are seeing the same thing. A recent study shows children and adults are consuming less sugar in their diets—and that includes fewer calories from sugary drinks. The largest drop is occurring among teenagers.


An occasional soda or sugary drink can be a joy. But increasing your intake of water, while consuming less sugar, may increase the quality and quantity of your life.


I’ve written and preached for years that there is no more nutritious drink than water. If you miss the flavor of sodas, try adding a slice of lemon, lime, other fruit, or even flavoring drops. Let’s keep our–and our kids’–sugar intake watered down.
