Sometimes We Have To “Return To Shore” For Help

Okay. So, I took our seven year old out to the middle of Lake Union on a kayak. Midway through this he says, “Daddy, we don’t have lifejackets on.”

Yes, our seven year old, who doesn’t know how to swim, realizes this.

Yeah, I felt terrible. Of course we paddled back to shore and got the lifejackets that we needed.

I’m grateful for that as a mom; and that attitude can be a good one in marriage too. Because we too get caught out in the deep without the resources we need sometimes.

You’re exactly right. Friend, if you find yourself out there, don’t be afraid to paddle back to shore and get the help you need through a seminar, a book, a counselor, a small group…

Just a compassionate friend you can talk to.
