Good News: Can I Have Your Autograph?

Did you see the picture circulating around the internet of the Disney security guard asking a little “princess” for her autograph?  It turns out that this security guard asks each little girl who is dressed up like a princess for her autograph.  He enjoys making a big fuss over them.  Like Alli, the little girl in the picture, most girls cannot believe he actually thinks they are princesses!  What a fun feel-good story — and a great reminder that it only takes a few moments or a few words to make someone’s day!

Mini-Resolution No 25: Put Together A Care Package

Today’s mini-resolution is to put together a care package for a homeless person for the next time you see one.  This can include personal care items like a toothbrush and toothpaste, socks, hats, and gloves, or even a blanket to keep warm.  You might even want to include a restaurant gift card.

Good News: This Little Piggy

It’s a happy ending for a family in Florida who was fighting to keep a miniature Juliana pig as a pet.  Twinkie, an emotional therapy pig, is the pet of the Ray family, and specificially Kason, who has Down’s Syndrome.  Though it was against the city ordinance to keep pigs as pets, the community rallied around the Ray family to get an exemption.  Read the full story here!

Good News: Millionaire Janitor

Tyrone Curry won over $3.4 million dollars in the Washington State lottery 5 years ago and still spends his days sweeping the cafeteria floor at Evergreen High School.  He loves his job, and he loves the kids.  In fact, his passion for them runs so deep that he shared his fortune with the school, donating $40,000 to build them a track.  Watch his inspiring story here.

Good News Story: Care for Caregivers

Meet Connie Siskowski.  As an 11-year-old girl, she was the primary caregiver for her ill grandfather.  She bathed him, woke up in the middle of the night to give him medication, and did anything else she could to take care of him.  Now, as an adult, she’s helping Florida kids who are caring for an ill parent.  God prepared her as a girl to fulfill her purpose as an adult!

Celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day! Do you have a favorite quote of Dr. King’s? Here are a couple of mine…..

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate
cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.”

“Faith is taking the first step even when you can’t see the whole staircase.”
